3 Super Simple Ways to Overcome the Fear of Change
This conversation could not come at a better time in the world. I know many of you are navigating challenging times filled with uncertainty, change, and ultimately fear.
I am too! If you’re new around here, I refer to these moments as Now What Moments. A Now What Moment is essentially a time in anyone’s life where they don’t know where to go next.
If you find yourself worrying because you can't predict the direction of your life, you might be experiencing a Now What Moment
A Now What Moment can look like, graduating college, switching jobs, losing your job, leaving a relationship, scaling your business, starting a business, the list goes on. Each of these moments shifts our lives so much so that we are uncertain of the outcome.
Why are we afraid of change?
As humans, we like things that are comfortable, predictable, and certain. So, when things begin to shift and feel shaky and uncertain, we get scared.
Which can lead to us feeling stuck.
Change is inevitable. By now, you probably figured that out.
Currently, I am navigating an uncertain time. I am looking for what comes next in regards to my living situation. At this point, I am looking through the Now What Moments in my life through a whole new lens. I used to be stuck in fear when I would experience these moments.
Fear of not knowing what is going to happen next. It can be tough to move forward in life when everything feels uncertain.
Humans fear uncertainty to the extent that we stay in unhealthy situations because they bring us comfort. Even if we are unhappy we stay because we fear the unknown, because the unknown could be worse than what we already have.
In reality, if you allow yourself to embrace change you will end up with something a million times better than you imagined. This fear of uncertainty keeps so many people stuck inside their comfort zones, stuck in unhealthy relationships, stuck in mediocre jobs, stuck in life.
If you want to become unstuck, if you want to become unstoppable, and step into your authentic truth you have to embrace change, but first, you must overcome the fear of change.

I want to set the stage. I want us to talk about this and share some things that helped me navigate times of uncertainty and growth.
How to Overcome Fear of Change:
1. Take the Fear of Change as a Compliment
I love to reframe these moments. If you think about it, the fear is coming up because you are stepping into something you have never done before. You are growing! Reframe the way you think about change as an opportunity for growth. See change as an opportunity to experience something incredible, something you never imagined.
Change is like a compliment because the universe is essentially telling you, hey, you have outgrown this. It's telling you it is time to move on to the next, better, era of your life.
If you don't see it that way, and try to hold on to your current reality. If you try to keep things the same, you miss out on massive growth. You miss out on becoming the most authentic and empowered version of yourself.

2. Be Empowered by Change and Uncertainty
You are stepping into a better—more capable version of yourself. The lessons you are learning through change are an opportunity for you to show up as an even better version of yourself. You can choose to show up and step into the next phase of your life as anyone that you want to be.
Get excited about the change and even the uncertainty that comes with it.
Once you begin to understand that you are always changing. You are not the same person you were last year, nor would you want to be that person you can learn to love change. Maybe even long for it.
When things become too typical or too comfortable you might even begin to seek out change and new ways of being to challenge yourself and help yourself grow. We are meant to evolve. Life's changes are the universe's way of pushing us to learn, blossom, and become the best version of ourselves.
Isn’t that empowering?
So the next time something is falling out of your life. Ask yourself, what lesson is the universe trying to teach me? What could this be making space for? How can I step into this change?
Change is only scary because we make it that way.
3. Be Grateful for Change
Express gratitude for you Now What Moments because they allowed you to grow and step into the best version of yourself. You would not be where you are today without those moments. If you are currently experiencing a Now What Moment, express gratitude for another opportunity to grow and expand.
Expressing gratitude is a great way to overcome your fear of change. If you’re always saying how grateful you are that things in your life are changing, your mind will slowly start to believe it.
It might feel unnatural at first because your subconscious thoughts and doubts will be fighting against you. But the more you practice gratitude for change and self-discovery, the more you will begin to embrace it and look for it in your life.
A great way to practice this is to journal about it. Write about what is falling away and what it could be making room for. Dream up beautiful possibilities of what your life can look like because of this change. Look for what this change allows you to step into.
You can also journal on past changes that lead you to where you are today and express gratitude for that. This gives you physical proof that change and uncertainty can be beautiful. Change is something to be celebrated.
What changes are you navigating right now, and how are you going to step into them?
